After watching the movie 'Lage raho Munna Bhai' , people come out talking about two things-1.the way of acting by the protagonists, which was awesome.2. The way of applying Gandhi's philosophy to today's life.
Can we apply Gandhi's philosophy to our life today? well, to some extent yes and to some extent no. Let me put forward this question--How many of us would leave our lucrative jobs or our yet to be earned money to work for our country? If any one is gonna be like that, please send me ur email id, I would certainly be glad to meet u and have a word with you!!! Those days were the days where people were desperate to get independence and got involved voluntarily to join Mahatma's cause. Whereas today India needs competent youngsters and who are suave intelligent and fashionable.
Non violence, untouchability, having an agrarian economy were the other practices followed by him. Well, in today's scenario non violence is certainly some thing that is required, but it can only be imbibed by a strong headed individual and it is impossible to ask every one to follow it. It cannot be forced upon someone but has to come from within. Take for eg. after the mumbai blast there was calmness surrounding the area. This itself is a great example of the spirit his citizens are having.
Take for the Present day circumstances, there is a terrorist attack every other day and can we follow his principles. Definetely no! Even though the govt is doing the very same....In our country there are lot of problems and we cant have his policy-atleast his sacrifice.
The movie created a sense of cult status for the bapu.......You wanna follow Gandhi Cult? Then don't just wear the Gandhi key chains and the other stuffs, try to follow his examples in real life.
Some of the things which you can do are:
- Be an Indian and an proud Indian and an lawful Indian
- Don't Ape the west.......Have ur identity.....
- Mingle with all the society irrespective of religion, caste,LANGUAGE, anything.
- Try to obey the laws of the country.
- And Most importantly wherever you may be in the world, Bear in mind that u are first an Indian
His philosophy of sathyagraha,Non violence and civil disobedient, were followed in many countries in Africa to get independence and were also used by the legendry Martin Luther King. Those days it was apt and was the best way to get independence and drive away the colonial Rulers. Frankly speaking,his philosophy doesn't hold any sense in Today's Modern world. At the same time it must be respected and also be praised to the highest extent.
Rather than giving him a cult status people should look at him in awe and silently worship him for giving us freedom, which is enjoyed by every one. At the same time the best way for one to follow his philosophy would be to make India a super power and above all make India, the land which he dreamt of.
Finally I would like to end my writing with reflecting wat Einstein once told:"Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth"
